Phoebe, or we have grown to call her Phoebelonies or Lonies for short was bought from a pet store in Amman, Jordan.
Her life starting out wasn’t kind, as a kitten she was separated from the other cats and was placed in a bird cage by herself. When we first saw her, our hearts melted as she would jump up and rub against the bars trying to get any affection she could. Even though our hearts went out to her, we thought she would be adopted and we didn’t want any more pets as traveling overseas is extremely difficult with them.

However, when we visited the same pet store two weeks later, she was again by herself, but sleeping in her litter box. Poor thing, as standing on the bars of the bird cage that wasn’t made for cats must have been uncomfortable, forcing her to sleep where she pottied. Cats are extremely clean, so this was just too much.

Needless to say, we quickly told the shop owner we wanted her. She was extremely filthy as she was forced to sleep in her litter box, but we didn’t care, my wife emptied her purse and we brought her home. We had pet shampoo for our dog and washed her properly and gave her a good clean bed and top quality food to bring out her shine. Our vet did a house visit and was very upset with the pet store as she had a ton of ear mites, so she cleaned her ears and gave her shots to get her healthy (as it was obvious the pet store didn’t take care of their animals).

Initially she was extremely needy (given her solitary treatment this was understandable) as she wanted to be on your lap all the time (which, we all kinda loved as each of us wanted time with her). As she grew into the young lady she is today, we all love her dearly. She isn’t as affectionate (no longer a lap cat), but loves being brushed and will come sit with you on her terms. She is very endearing in her own way, and each of the family members love her very much as she brings so much joy to the family.
